Early Years: 2006 to present

tyDi’s dance music career started early, winning the Brisbane DJ Wars competition in 2003 aged just 16 and securing his first residency a year later at Brisbane’s ‘The Family’ club.  His DJ career began to pick up pace with gigs across Australia at events such as Godskitchen and Slinky.  At the same time he started studying for a degree in Music Technology at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

He went on to make strong entries in the Australian top DJ poll eventually reaching the number 1 spot in 2008.

tyDi released his first track in ‘MinD Games’ (Mazeman) 2006.  ‘MinD Games’ combines a funky house beat, spacey vocals and a hypnotic trance lead and as with many of tyDi’s earlier productions is as close to house as they are to trance.  His 2008 track ‘Fool’ featuring Keshia on vocals is syncopated electro house with a lead riff the only real nod to trance.

The house influence though became less prominent over the next couple of years.  In 2008 his quirky electro trance track 'Meet Me in Kyoto' was signed to trance heavyweight Armin van Buuren’s Armada Music group.  The following year came the mainstream vocal trance of ‘You Walk Away’ (Armind 2009).  He stuck with the vocal trance formula for ‘Calling’ and his biggest success to date ‘Vanilla’ (both AVA Recordings 2010).

tyDi released his original artist album 'Look Closer' on April 25, 2009.  Later that year he launched a weekly worldwide radio show titled ‘Global Soundsystem’.  For his 50th episode he announced guests such as Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, Judge Jules, Sander Van Doorn and Markus Schulz.
In 2010 at the International Dance Music Awards in Miami tyDi one the ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ award.

tyDi is an artist on the up.  Though his production style is less unique than it was in earlier years, he brings high production qualities to all of his releases.  His winning of the ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ in 2010 indicates that tyDi’s profile is set to increase over the next few years.

tyDi has a degree in Music Technology from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. He also used to play the drums.
