Steve Bug

Steve Bug is the production and DJ alias of German Tech-House music artist Stefan Brügesch. Bug is one of the pioneers of Minimal dance music and his style straddles House and Techno.  Bug is also the head of Poker Flat Recordings.

Early Years: 1994 to 1999

Stefan Brügesch’s first professional DJ gig was in 1991 at his self-promoted night in Club Maxx in his home town of Bremen. 

He later moved to Hamburg where he started producing and co-promoting with DJ Henry.

In 1996 he released an album compilation of early singles and followed it up the following year with his debut studio album ‘Volksworld’ (Raw Elements 1997).

By the late 1990’s Bug was pioneering a pared-down Minimal House sound that had its origins jointly in Deep House and Techno. 

In 1998 Bug set up his Poker Flat Recordings label, which championed Minimal House producers and featured much of his own work.

Later Years: 2000 to present

In 2000 Steve Bug moved from Hanover to Berlin which was rapidly becoming the epicentre of the European Minimal scene. 

In Berlin Bug continued his multi-faceted rol e of DJ, producer and club promoter, running nights at Berlin’s Radio Star club.

Steve Bug’s most recent studio album to date is ‘Collaboratory’ (Poker Flat Recordings 2009).

 

Steve Bug is one of the key figures in the European Tech-House scene.  He has spent years pioneering Minimal House as a DJ, producer and club promoter.

Steve Bug was originally a hairdresser.  He gave it up to become a DJ.
