Early Years: 1992 to present

Growing up in Detroit Stacey Pullen became interested in electronic music early on and became immersed in the emerging Detroit Techno scene being pioneered by the likes of Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson.

Pullen started DJing in 1990 and worked closely with May.  In 1992 Pullen released his first single the ‘Bango’ E.P. (Fragile Records 1992) under his Bango production alias.

Over the following years Pullen released tracks under multiple aliases, of which Kosmik Messenger was the most high profile.

Pullen became recognized for combining House and Garage with Techno and as such laid the foundations for later Tech House artists.

Pullen’s production output slowed in the early 2000’s but picked up again in more recent years, including ‘Limmo’ (Saved 2010), a collaboration with British Minimal House producer Nic Fanciulli.

Though he never achieved the accolades or success of the first wave of Detroit Techno DJs Stacey Pullen none the less had an important impact, especially in laying the foundations for Tech House.
