Squarepusher timeline

‘Come on My Selector’ (Warp Records 1998)
‘Music Is Rotted One Note’ (Warp Records 1998)

Early Years: 1996 to 1999

Tom Jenkinson started producing in the early 1990’s and had a couple of early tracks and remixes released on DJ Food’s label.  His first album came in 1995, on Aphex Twin’s Richard James’ Rheplex label.  The album – ‘Feed Me Weird Things’ (Rephlex 1996) was head on collision of Aphex Twin style sonic weirdness and fierce Jungle rhythms.

By 1997 Jenkinson saw his first Warp Records album released: ‘Hard Normal Daddy’ (Warp Records 1997).  But it was his second album on Warp - ‘Music Is Rotted One Note’ (Warp Records 1998) – that really raised his profile and generated critical acclaim.

What makes Jenkinson’s Squarepusher project stand out from the crowd is a combination of sonic experimentation coupled with virtuoso bass playing, as seen on ‘Come on My Selector’ (Warp Records 1998).

‘Hello Mellow’
(Warp Records 2006)
‘Hello Everything’
(Warp Records 2006)

Later Years: 2000 to present

Jenkinson released seven albums throughout the 2000’s including ‘Hello Everything’ (Warp Records 2006) which featured a heavier use of super fast funk bass guitar as seen on the track ‘Hello Meow’ (Warp Records 2006).

Jenkinson has built a well earned reputation as one of electronic music innovators and along the way has acquired fans in high places such as The Outkast and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke.

Jenkinson’s most recent studio album to date is ‘d'Demonstrator’ (Warp Records 2010).

Tom Jenkinson has rightly earned a reputation as one of the more innovative producers in electronic music.  He has proven himself adept at ensuring that his experimentation always remains firmly grounded in melody so that his music is both innovative and accessible.
