Early Years: 2003 to present

Simon Patterson first made a name for himself as one half of trance production duo Dogzilla along with production partner Richie Kayvan. Their first single was the self titled ‘Dogzilla’ (Maelstrom Records 2003) but their breakthrough was two years later with the vocal trance-rock cross-over track ‘Without You’ (Maelstrom Records 2005).

Supported by the likes of Paul van Dyk ‘Without You’ put Dogzilla on the map and a series of successful live performances and remixes followed, most notably that of Polaroid’s ‘So Damn Beautiful’.  Yet the duo only released one further single ‘Frozen’ (Maelstrom Records 2007) before disbanding.

Instead Simon Patterson focused on his blossoming solo career.  In 2006 he had released his debut solo single ‘F-16’ (2 Play Records 2006) which had received strong critical acclaim. By 2007 he was signed to Sander van Doorn’s Spinnin’ Records for whom his first single was ‘Bulldozer’ the same year.  ‘Bulldozer’ is aptly named: it’s a pile-driver of a track that combines a big lead with thumping kick drum, cut up electro noises and a growling bass riff.
The driving energy of ‘Bulldozer’ and follow up tracks such as ‘Thump’ (Reset Records 2009) pushed Patterson’s profile into the main stage and earned him the enthusiastic support of big name DJs such as Judge Jules, Tiesto, and Armin van Buuren.

In 2009 Patterson recorded a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.   (Patterson had previously worked behind the scenes at Radio 1, acting as a tastemaker for Judge Jules and Seb Fontaine’s peak time shows).

Appearances at major festivals and clubs across the globe ensued, including closing the mains stage in front of 25,000 people at Trance Energy in Holland in 2010.  The same year Patterson was voted number 28 in the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ Poll.

Simon Patterson has quickly built a strong reputation for himself based upon high energy productions and DJ performances that sit slightly to the harder end of the trance spectrum.  The support of top tier DJs coupled with a loyal following and strong production skills suggest Patterson will continue to prosper for years to come.
