Shoegaze

Towards the end of the 1980’s groups like The Jesus and Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine took the more experimental and ethereal elements of Dream Pop acts like the Cocteau Twins and added layers of driving guitars and a wall-of-sound ethos.  By the turn of the 1990’s a wave of artists such as Ride and Chapterhouse propelled the movement into the Shoegaze genre proper.
