Early Years: 1998 to present

Ben Sims started out DJ-ing as a young boy, getting his first decks aged 10 and playing small parts of DJ sets at after hours parties just one year later.  Sims was at this stage mainly playing Hip Hop and Electro but switched as soon as he heard Acid House and from there moved onto Techno.

Throughout the 1990’s Sims steadily built a solid reputation for his hard-edged but funky Techno along with the likes of Marco Carola and Adam Beyer.

In 1998 Sims set up the record label Theory Recordings which he still runs today.  Also in 1998 Sims released his first singles and the following year released his debut studio album ‘The Dubs’ (Hardgroove 1999) and then followed these with mix compilation albums most years throughout the 2000’s.

As Sims’ profile grew he became increasingly in demand as a producer, remixing for the likes of Adam Beyer, Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin and Luke Slater.  He became similarly in demand as a DJ playing at festivals and clubs across the globe.

In 2011 Sims released his second studio album ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ (Drumcode 2011) on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode label.

Ben Sims has established himself as a well respected DJ, producer and remixer with a keen international following.  Though best known for his Hard Techno sets Sims has always played a more diverse range of styles including House and Tech-House.
