Axwell

Axwell is the production and performance alias of Swedish House producer and DJ Axel Hedfors.  A global success in his own right, with remixes for the likes of Moby, Madonna and Nelly Furtado, Hedfors is probably best known as one third of the Swedish House Mafia.

Early Years: 2000 to present

Axel Hedfors started producing as Axwell in 2000 but his breakthrough track came four years later with the vocal house track ‘Feel The Vibe’ and its 2005 remake on Ministry of Sound’s Data Records that entered the UK Top 20.   2005 was also the year in which Axwell set up his own label Axtone Records.

Axwell’s profile continued to grow with a growing number of remixes, extensive DJ-ing and a mix compilation ‘Swedish House’ (ZYX Music 2005).

Axwell’s follow up single ‘Watch The Sunrise’ (Superstar Recordings 2006), another peak time vocal house track proved to be another commercial success.  Axwell’s ascent to the top tier of House DJs was confirmed when his 2007 single ‘I Found U’ reached number 1 in the UK charts.

In 2007 Axwell, along with fellow Swedish House DJs – and long term collaborators – Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso, played the main room at Cream at Amnesia in Ibiza under the name The Swedish House Mafia.  It proved to be the start of a long term and highly successful collaboration which has spawned multiple commercial House smash hits.

The trio teamed up with Laidback Luke in 2010 to produce the Vocal House anthem ‘Leave the World Behind’ (Ultra Records 2010) featuring Deborah Cox on vocals.

Axel Hedfors is part of the top tier of House producers and DJs.  Under his Axwell alias Hedfors has built a strong reputation for House music productions that combine a club edge with a strong commercial appeal.
