‘Immolate Yourself’
(BPitch Control 2009)

Early Years: 2001 to 2009

Charlie Cooper and Joshua Eustis started producing together in 1999 and within two years had signed to Hefty Records, where they released their debut album ‘Fahrenheit Fair Enough’ (Hefty Records 2001)’.

Fahrenheit Fair Enough’ was a blend of Downtempo breakbeats, analog synths, quirky effects and lush melodies, as seen on the dreamy track  ‘Sound In A Dark Room’ (Hefty Records 2002).

Natives of New Orleans, Cooper and Eustis witnessed the effects of Hurricane Katrina first hands.  They followed the experience with their third and final album ‘Immolate Yourself’ (BPitch Control 2009) which was released on the Berlin based BPitch label.

Cooper and Eustis made a conscious effort to change their sound for ‘Immolate Yourself’, resulting in a much more vocal driven approach that at times drifted into the realms of left field pop music.

Telefon Tel Aviv had built a small but dedicated fan base by the time of Charlie Cooper’s death.  By the released of ‘Immolate Yourself’ Telefon Tel Aviv were embarking on a brave new musical direction that was cut off mid flow.

In between the US and European Telefon Tel Aviv tours Charlie Cooper died, possibly accidentally due to a mix of sleeping pills and alcohol.
