Stefan Jönsson’s first single release was under his Sublunar alias with ‘Sanctuary’ on the Banshee Worx imprint Progrez in 2004. ‘Sanctuary’ and the B side ‘Inbreak’ are brooding progressive trance of the sort that would have fitted seamlessly into John Digweed and Sasha Northern Exposure sets. Also in 2004 Jönsson signed a deal with West One Music to release the house single ‘Soul Flavour’ (Existence Records 2004).
‘Sanctuary’ was remixed and re-released the following year as ‘Sanctuary (Antidote's Tech Mix)' and was licensed to the Ferry Corsten mix compilation "Passport: Kingdom of Netherlands".
In 2005 Jönsson released the ambient album ‘Secret Observatory’ (Spotted Peccary 2005) as Between Interval which followed his self-released ambient album ‘Radio Silence’ (Imaginary Friend Records 2004) they year before, also as Between Interval.
Jönsson has since released two further Between Interval ambient albums on Spotted Peccary records.
Stefan Jönsson is a versatile producer whose productions straddle the deeper end of house and trance through to ambient and chill out. Other than early success with Sublunar and critical acclaim for some of his ambient albums Jönsson remains ‘under the radar’.
In 2008 Stefan Jönsson changed his name to Stefan Strand. In addition to producing music he also works as a web developer.
