'Split The Line'
( Quartz Music 2010)
Detroit Electronic Music Festival 2008

Early Years: 2006 to present

Ritch’s first release ‘Samba’ (Resopal Schallware 2006) was a driving minimal track with a rolling conga riff and running bass line that could sit equally well in a house or a techno DJ set.  His follow up ‘Winter Ceremony’ (Resopal Schallware 2007) had a stronger techno feel, with a more pared down funky synth riff sitting on top of a tight rolling conga pattern.

‘Winter Ceremony’ was the first of seven releases in 2007.  Other releases such as ‘Summer Ceremony’, “Fortuna E.P.’ and ‘June’ continued to deliver a dancefloor focused sound featuring congas riffs and big crowd pleasing breakdowns and builds.

2008 was another productive year for Ritch, with five further releases including ‘Nordbanhoff (Mindshake Records) and ‘Aquarel’ on Dubfire’s SCI + TEC Digital Audio label. Also in 2008 he performed at a number of festivals around the globe including a live set at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival.

In 2010 Ritch returned to his association with Dubfire when Dubfire remixed ‘Split the Line’ (Quartz Music).

Paul Ritch got off to a quick start, rising to prominence quickly on the minimal and tech scenes, helped by putting out eight releases in 2007.  Since Dubfire’s remix of ‘Split the Line’ some of the momentum seems to have disappeared from Ritch’s career for now.
