Early Years: 2006 to present

Originally born in London Mat Zo spent some time in the US before returning to the UK aged 11. It was on his return he discovered electronic dance music, particularly the Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk who made an impact on the budding young producer.  By just 16 years of age Zo had turned inspiration into his first single ‘Exodus’ (a:Loud Recordings 2006).

Zo’s profile received its first main boost after winning the Baroque Remix Competition, remixing Lustral’s ‘In My Life’.  As 2007 drew to a close Zo had found himself gaining support of big name DJs including Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond and Ferry Corsten and remixing for established acts including Andy Moor, Markus Schulz and even Dutch trance legend Tiesto.

In 2008 Zo had his radio show Zoned picked up for broadcast by Afterhours.fm.

Zo signed to Above and Beyond’s Anjunabeats label in 2009 and his first single ‘Lucky Strike’ (Anjunabeats 2009) combined lush melodies with twisted electro riffs and was his most successful releases to date.

2010 proved to be the busiest to date for Zo with six singles, including the dreamy melodic trance of ‘The Lost’ (Anjunabeats 2010), and his first mix compilation ‘Anjunabeats Worldwide 02’ (Anjunabeats 2010) with fellow Anjunabeats artists Super8 & Tab.

Mat Zo’s production style oozes melody.  His intricate, layered productions don’t always have the bang of the dance floor but stand out as high quality tunes.  Clearly gifted from a young age Mat Zo looks set to have a strong future.

Mat Zo comes from an artistic family: his mother is a professional violinist and his father a famous oil painter.
