Chill Out
Although many tracks which are today considered as Chill Out the genre didn't really take shape until the early 1990's, emerging out of Club Culture in the shape of Chill Out rooms and Chill Outs. Initially Chill Out comprised down tempo tracks from diverse genres and slow tempo electronica tracks created by Electronic Dance Music Artists, many of which could also be classified as Ambient House / Techno. From the late 1990's onwards Chill Out became an increasingly commercial genre due in part to successful compilation franchises such as 'Cafe del Mar'.
