Apparat is the production alias of German electronic music producer Sascha Ring. Based in Berlin, Ring used to co-own Shitkatapault Records.  Ring’s output has evolved from Techno, through IDM, to experimental Ambient.

Early Years: 2001 to present

Sascha Ring set up Shitkatapault Records with Marco Haas in 1999 and two years later released his debut album on the label: ‘Multifunktionsebene’ (Shitkatapult 2001).

Ring’s most successful album to date – both creatively and commercially – is ‘Walls’ (Shitkatapult 2007) which included the successful dreamy Breakbeat track ‘You Don't Know Me’ (Shitkatapult 2007). 

Ring put together a band to take a live performance of ‘Walls’ on tour in 2007 and 2008.

In 2011 Ring signed to Indie heavyweight Mute Records to release his latest album to date: ‘The Devil’s Walk’ (Mute 2011).

Sascha Ring has earned a reputation for a prolific output of recorded work, coupled with a an appetite for experimentation and a willingness to dramatically evolve his sound.

Sascha Ring was formerly co-owner of Shitkatapault Records. Sascha Ring lives in Berlin.
